Boru Boru Championing Girls
Conducted in South Sudan, this initiative uses the game of Boru Boru (ChezaDodge) to empower girls, challenge gender norms, and provide a safe, participatory environment. It is implemented in partnership with Help a Child Foundation, UNICEF and more under the leadership of the Cheza Boru Boru South Sudan.

Why Boru Boru matters
Boru Boru connects girls’ participation in sport with a game rooted in their cultural setting. The project creates space for girls to take part, develop confidence and challenge expectations that can limit their access to physical activity.
Local leadership and participation
Delivery is led by Cheza Boru Boru South Sudan. Local leadership is central to making activities relevant to the communities involved and building relationships with participants and partner organisations.
A safe and supportive sporting experience
The programme’s purpose extends beyond a sporting result. It aims to support participation, teamwork and a sense of belonging. Safeguarding and inclusive delivery are essential considerations when organising opportunities for girls.
Get involved
